My name is Greg Wharton (www.GregWharton.com). I'm an award-winning author, editor, and publisher living in the Redwoods in Western Sonoma County, just a throw away from the Russian River and a short journey to the Pacific Ocean. I’m 47. I’m a loving, stubborn, energetic, artistic, and lusty Taurus. I’m married (and officially annulled by the state, thanks California!) to an amazing and powerful man named Ian (www.IanPhilips.com).

After a lifetime of what is best called magpie spirituality, where I study all and take the bright shiny best parts of different traditions that appeal to me the most, I have found a solid foundation to my conjure and spirituality with the use of Hoodoo Rootwork. I’m a graduate of Catherine Yronwode’s Hoodoo and Rootwork Correspondence Course. I’ve also completed a personal Apprenticeship Program with Catherine Yronwode and Lucky Mojo Curio.

During my days, I work for Lucky Mojo Curio (www.LuckyMojo.com) producing many of the amazing hand-made magical Hoodoo-focused supplies such as oils, incense, sachet powders, baths, Mojo Hands, and spell kits that they sell.

I’m a psychic reader. My preferred and most-used Tarot cards is the Cosmic Tribe Tarot deck. In addition to the Tarot, I use my pendulum (a Shiva Lingum stone) for readings—and when personal my own Jack Ball. I practice Ceromancy (wax burn divination) in support of my Candle Setting. I also have been fortunate to have experienced psychic dreams throughout most of my life.

I’m a Level Two Reiki (Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage) Practitioner and am working toward my Master Level. I do hands-on and long-distance healing. I also use my Reiki energy channeling in my healing conjure and spiritual work.

I’m an ordained minister (Universal  Life Church) and can officiate personal and official services or ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, blessings, cleansings, celebrations, and rites of passage.

What is Hoodoo?

Hoodoo is a historically African-American (with strong Native-American and Jewish Mysticism influences) magical tradition using natural herbs, roots, minerals, animal curios (I do not use animal curios in my work), oils, amulets and talismans, and prayer.

Hoodoo, though very spiritual, is not a religion and can be used along with any spiritual belief system including those of Pagans, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists.

Does Hoodoo work? Yes, I believe Hoodoo, like all magic works to its full potential when done right and with clear and focused intention. Can it do anything? No, not anything. Conjure, magic, rootwork, all need belief, focus, and prayer to succeed. But you can affect change in yourself, others, and the world—changes within the realm of the potential—with the power of thought, energy, and I personally believe, the correct use of selected natural botanical and mineral items.

Divination

In most readings I use a three card layout (past, present, future, or similar layout) to start. As needed for clarification more cards can be pulled. I also like to use my pendulum as appropriate for clarification purposes. In some cases I use my pendulum alone. These are when simple yes or no questions are best, and can be shorter readings.

 

I offer readings in person, by phone, or by email. My fee for readings is $1 per minute: 15 minutes for a short consultation or yes/no pendulum reading, or 30, 45, or 60 minutes for any combination of consultation, and card or pendulum reading.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of Japanese spiritual energy practice founded in 1922 by Dr. Mikao Usui and first taught in the West by Hawayo Takata. A Reiki practitioner has been energetically attuned to channel a spiritually guided form of universal life-energy which facilitates spiritual and physical healing.

I’m a Level Two Reiki (Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage) Practitioner and am working toward my Master Level. I do hands-on and long-distance healing. I also use my Reiki energy channeling in my healing conjure and spiritual work.

Other than using Reiki in my conjure and spiritual practices, I limit my healing work to friends, family, and select clients.
